Adult complex and severe mental health services

Important note: The feedback period has now closed. Primary Health Tasmania wants to improve services for adults with complex and severe mental illness. We want people who use or provide these services to have a say.

Why are we asking?

From June next year, there will be a change to the mental health nursing program which currently funds care for people with complex and severe mental illness. This is an opportunity to look at what is working well and to consider how these types of services could be better. For patients, this means having the right services in the right place at the right time.

To ensure that the best possible services are in place, we are seeking the views of everyone affected by complex and severe mental illness. This includes service providers and people with lived experience of mental illness, such as patients and their carers.

What feedback are we seeking?

We want to know more about improving:

  • access to services - so that more Tasmanians can receive the best type of clinical care when and where it is needed
  • coordination between services - so that patients using these services are better supported
  • the role that mental health nurses play - so that the care they provide has the best chance of improving outcomes for patients.

Primary Health Tasmania has also talked with general practices, mental health services and consumer groups around Tasmania as part of our stakeholder consultation.
