People living with a disability, their carers and disability service provider staff are eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccination.

The Australian Government has tasked Primary Health Networks around the country – including Primary Health Tasmania, for this state – with supporting local disability service providers to prepare participants and staff for the vaccinations.

The Australian Government has contracted Aspen Medical to administer COVID-19 vaccinations to people with disability residing in supported accommodation in Tasmania.

There are a number of ways participants and staff can receive a COVID-19 vaccine:

  • via Aspen in-reach or vaccination hub
  • by attending a general practice or general practice respiratory clinic that is offering vaccinations. Please note that general practice are only able to offer AstraZeneca vaccinations; AstraZeneca can only be given to people 50 years and over.
  • By calling the Public Health Hotline to organise an appointment. The phone number is 1800 671 738. If booking an appointment for a participant, please advise the hotline that the person has a disability and outline any support they may need (e.g. quiet clinic, wheelchair access).
