About the Clinical Advisory Council

The council is considered a vital part of the organisation enabling primary health care to build and hold its place as an equal system partner.

Council's purpose is to assist the Primary Health Tasmania Board (the Board) to ensure effective clinical engagement and clinical leadership is the forefront of Primary Health Tasmania’s governance.

The Clinical Advisory Council together with the Community Advisory Council are standing advisory bodies to the Board. Members of the council will be expected to be strong advocates for the work of Primary Health Tasmania.

About the role

The term of appointment is 3 years. Members are supported to undertake the role with a payment, orientation, and professional development if required.

The Clinical Advisory Council regularly meets and works with the Community Advisory Council. Both councils have a dedicated Board representative and an independent Chair.

At a minimum, both councils meet 4 times a year, and this is a mix of face to face meetings (often in Campbell Town) and online meetings. There may be a flow of reading material and discussion in-between meetings.

Our clinical advisory council members must be in active primary/community practice and registered with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) or through a recognised professional body.
